Ellen is the co-founder and editor of Barefoot Backpackers. A superstar traveller, she is always two steps ahead. You can count on her on planning and packing skills and is pretty good in a health setback – always armed with a natural health apothecary.
She lives and breathes holistic health, and you will most often find her practising yoga, reading self-development books, somewhere in nature or creating content from her latest adventures.
With over three years of experience in digital publishing, Ellen has worked as a senior health and wellness writer across various platforms, including Live For The Outdoors, Grazia, Closer, Heat, Spirit & Destiny, and A Modern Kitchen. She has covered various topics, from natural health and sustainable living to wellness and spirituality. Her writing career began at the University, where she contributed to the student newspaper and independent publications such as The Indiependent, focusing on music, film, and cultural topics.
Ellen has also worked as a product writer, where she specialised in researching, testing, and cross-referencing products to find the best value across different categories. Her work required in-depth analysis, ensuring that recommendations were backed by thorough comparisons, and expert reviews ensuring products were high quality and relevant. This attention to detail and commitment to quality reinforced her expertise in health, wellness, outdoor gear, and sustainable products, making her a trusted voice in the industry.
After leaving her full-time role as a digital writer to travel and study Ayurveda and yoga in India. She spent three months backpacking across the country; travelling and staying at ashrams and completed an Ayurveda course at the Sivananda Dhanwantari Ashram in Kerala. Since then, she has continued her studies and is now close to qualifying as an Ayurveda Lifestyle and Nutrition Consultant.
Having lived in multiple countries, including the UK, Canada, and France and journeyed the world, Ellen has developed a knack for conscious travel and cultural immersion. Whether wild camping in the Scottish Highlands, backpacking through Thailand and Vietnam, skiing in the Alps, or spending time in Ashrams in India, she believes in staying connected to nature and prioritising wellbeing wherever the journey takes her. She is passionate about travel that brings personal growth and health while respecting and protecting the planet.
