Who Are Barefoot Backpackers

Welcome Backpackers!

Hey there! Nice to meet you. We’re Ellen and Greg, a brother-and-sister duo who created Barefoot Backpackers from a shared love of adventure, wellbeing, and being close to nature. After years of traveling across continents, living out of backpacks, and learning from cultures around the world, we wanted to build a space that honors natural living and adventure by sharing our tips and tricks we have learnt along the way.

To be a barefoot backpacker is to travel with purpose and embrace natural living. It’s about grounding yourself, learning about ancient practices, and adopting a simpler way of life that nurtures both you and the planet.

This space is our way of sharing that journey – a home for travelers. From country guides and travel essentials to holistic wellbeing insights and natural living tips.

Barefoot Backpackers is about finding balance between outer adventure and inner growth.

Our Mission

Barefoot Backpackers' Mission

We believe backpacking is evolving: it’s no longer all about ticking off countries, it’s about traveling with purpose. It’s the beauty of learning from every culture, finding joy from genuine connection, and growing from new experiences. Our mission is to help travelers find that balance between adventure and self-discovery.

The Backpacking Culture is Changing

We are starting to see a new wave of backpacking. Travel is about learning from the culture, taking courses, sharing a meal with locals, or finding like-minded friends. It’s about traveling with purpose and living with intention.

What it means to be a Barefoot Backpacker

To be a Barefoot Backpacker is to live curiously and intentionally. It’s about exploring the world while staying grounded in presence and authenticity. We seek nature, meaningful connection, and experiences that remind us what it means to truly live.

Have you ever noticed how easy it is to meet like-minded people when you’re on your travels? That’s no coincidence. Backpackers share a certain spirit: they’re curious, adaptable, and always up for an adventure. But those qualities don’t stop when the trip ends; they become part of who you are.

Whether you’re planning your first journey or your twentieth, we hope this blog helps guide and inspire your adventures.
