We love this solid backpack for treks to trains. The front belt contains a pouch has the same function as a bum bag. It’s a great function ideal for storing your essentials – passport, money, keys, lip balm.

In terms of it’s design it’s first-class, as you would come to expect from Osprey products. The lightweight design makes it more efficient for trekking, the webbing material are comfortable to wear – no rubbing or digging. The mesh water bottle pocket gives easy access and the front pannel has an organiser.

It isn’t suitcase opening like the Fairview 70L – which is made for vacationing. It does require a little bit efficient packing but as it is made for day-trekking it will be a very comfortable option. Whether that looks like running for overnight buses or hitting the trails.

In terms of budget packs – the Mountain Warehouse Traveller is a pretty decent backpack. It has many good features, the 20L detachable day rucksack, the secondary sleeping bag compartment, the adjustable back system (short girls – your prayers are answered) and a concealed rain cover. Mountain Warehouse really thought the through the features. We love this as a pack and have had success using it.

Our main observations are that with a grand total of 80L, it can get pretty heavy. If over packed, the detachable bag really sticks out and can give you the feeling you are really carrying a turtle shell between you with you valuables in the day pack very far away. A compartment on the hip belt would have been a good add-on, however if you are happy to wear the daypack on the front or opt for a bum belt, it’s problem solved. If you are looking for a bag with a music festival or a first-time backpacker; this would be a good choice.

Another great budget option is the Trailhead 65. Although it is unisex it has an updated design with all the ideal benefits plus some enhanced tricks. The update includes extra comfort from the customisable BIOFIT back system which now has enhanced padding and also adjustable chest straps combine with top tension straps to achieve a supportive fit.

In terms of capacity, the 65L capacity offers lots of room and comes with pockets and attachment points so you’ll never be short of storage. It comes with a separate bivi compartment to separate the ready-to-wear from dirty laundry. It’s a pretty standard backpack for a trek or trip away. One thing we would have liked to see is the separate sleeping bag compartment but for under £100, it’s a decent mid-size pack for your adventures.

Deuter is a brand known for it’s excellent design and this women’s backpack is a true testament of that. With and aircontact back system that stops you from boiling up and being drenched with sweat (ladies, we know that happens too) it is a pretty great option for trekking and travel. We love the adjustable features here such as the hip fins, back length adjustments, zipped pocket, ice axe and trekking pole attachment and hydration system.

Adventure loving women – you will live this pack and at 50L it’s pretty generous in terms of capacity. Your tent, sleeping bag and mat will fit pretty smoothly and well as some other comforts.
